The 255.9 acres of salt pan land to be acquired include 120.5 acres in mauje Kanjur, 76.9 acres in Kanjur and Bhandup and 58.5 acres in mauje Mulund

Mumbai: The state cabinet on Monday cleared the proposal to transfer 256 acres of salt pan lands to the Dharavi Redevelopment Project.The state govt had written to the Centre requesting it to lease 283 acres of salt pan lands for the DRP.

Maharashtra cabinet on Monday approved the utilisation of 255 acres of salt pan land in Mumbai to develop houses for slum rehabilitation project-hit people, assigning the implementation responsibility to Adani group's Dharavi Slum Redevelopment Project.

Earlier in February this year, the cabinet had authorised a proposal to request the Union government to transfer salt pan land for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project on a 99-year-old lease.
