A section of a trail in Montana’s Glacier National Park was closed Thursday after a hiker was injured by a bear, park officials said.

A section of a popular Glacier National Park trail was closed Thursday after a man was attacked by a bear and injured, park officials said.

Rangers and other hikers helped the man walk more than a mile in a mountainous area so that he could be taken to a hospital, the National Park Service said.

A 35-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after encountering a bear Thursday morning on the Highline Trail.

The famed trail is closed from Granite Park Chalet on the north to Haystack Butte on the south — a 4.9-mile stretch that also provides access to Grinnell Glacier Overlook.
