A trial is underway in Texas for 31-year-old Brandon Lee Cervera, who is accused of starving his 4-year-old son to death in 2021. The boy's stepmother, Miranda Casarez, was previously convicted in April 2023 of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.

A Bexar County jury will decide the fate of Brandon Lee Cervera, 31, who is accused of starving his 4-year-old son Benjamin to death in 2021. The trial began on September 24th, over three years after Benjamin tragically died in a San Antonio hospital.

A police officer who responded to the hospital after Benji Cervera's 2021 death testified that he could see the child's bones through his skin.

Brandon Lee Cervera wasn't arrested until months later, in February 2022, when investigators looked into the death of young Benjamin Cervera after he was brought to a San Antoni children's hospital. Authorities said the boy appeared to be severely malnourished and underweight, with several bruises in various states of his healing on his body.

Brandon Cervera Sr. faces trial for the 2021 starvation death of his youngest son, Benjamin Cervera. If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
