DETROIT – Christian Fischer and Vladimir Tarasenko scored goals while Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot combined for 22 saves Friday, and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 2-0 in a preseason game at Little Caesars Arena. The Red Wings improved to 2-0 with their second victory over Chicago in as many games.

After the scrimmage, the Wings returned goaltender Landon Miller to his junior team in Sault Ste. Marie and released forwards Brayden Edwards, Chase Lefebvre, Charlie Paquette and Borya Valis, and defensemen Bauer Dumanski, Marcus Kearsey, Zackary Sandhu, Blake Smith, Josh Van Mulligen and Matthew Virgilio from their amateur tryouts.

Free-agent signee forward Vladimir Tarasenko, a former 40-goal scorer, already looks like he's fitting in with the Detroit Red Wings.

The Red Wings signed Tarasenko, 32, to a two-year contract ($4.75 million average annual value) on July 3 to help offset the departures of David Perron, Robby Fabbri and Daniel Sprong. Tarasenko is coming off a Stanley Cup championship run with Florida, five years after winning it with the Blues.
