(Reuters) - Virgin Australia cancelled all flights in and out of Bali, Indonesia, on Wednesday as volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Lewotobi made flying unsafe, the carrier said. Indonesia's Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted at least three times last Saturday, discharging a volcanic ash column that was 9 km (5.6 miles) high.

Following the eruption of Mount Lewotobi on the island of Flores last week, Australian airlines cancelled flights to and from Denpasar as volcanic ash spewed into airspace yesterday.

Ongoing volcanic eruptions and ash cloud pollution have forced several airlines to cancel flights to and from Bali for safety reasons. Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki - located on the Lesser Sunda Islands in Indonesia - began erupting on November 3rd, leading to the deaths of at least nine people.
