The Washington Commanders have landed a four-time Pro Bowl cornerback prior to the trade deadline. According to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones, Washington is acquiring Marshon Lattimore of the New Orleans Saints.

The Lions have leaned on a variety of players to make up for the absence of Hutchinson, including Levi Onwuzurike, James Houston and Josh Paschal, but none of them has been an every-down player like Hutchinson was. Adding Smith gives Detroit another player to add to that rotation.

Hours before the NFL's trade deadline at 4 p.m. EST on Tuesday, the Commanders (7-2) got four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the struggling Saints (2-7), three people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the teams have not announced the deal.
