Officials at the Tata Electronics plant in Tamil Nadu that makes Apple iPhone components said on Monday, 30 September 2024 that the production will remain suspended indefinitely after a fire broke out at the plant.

One person aware of the developments said the evacuation and emergency protocols worked well. “All employees were accounted for. Around eight people needed medical attention, and they are all ok now after medical attention,

The fire started in the mobile phone accessories painting unit of the company around 5.30 am on Saturday. Around 1,500 workers were on shift when the incident took place.
