A shooting that claimed the life of a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority employee at a bus yard late Friday may have been the result of a dispute over money, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office officials said Monday.

Investigators say the shooting suspect and victim took part in “betting activities” together prior to the Friday night violence at a San Jose parking lot.

The Sheriff’s Office reported today that Duc Minh Bui, 33, of San Jose, was apprehended near his home at approximately 12:14pm. Sunday, and was charged today with first-degree murder. Investigators have not released the name of the victim.

A VTA employee was killed by a coworker over an unpaid gambling debt at a San Jose bus yard, authorities said.
