New Delhi: There has been an uproar over the adulteration of animal fat and other things in the laddus of Tirupati temple. The Chandrababu Naidu government of Andhra Pradesh itself made public the lab report in which adulteration in Tirupati laddu has been confirmed. The government has changed the company supplying ghee for laddus.

The country's food safety regulator has issued a show cause notice to a Tamil Nadu-based firm for allegedly supplying substandard ghee to temple authority Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also announced a Special Investigation Team to probe the matter.

Nandini is Karnataka's largest dairy brand and has a robust presence in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Goa.

Years ago, KMF supplied ghee to the temple in Tirupati to make laddus. Later, with a change in leadership in the temple committee, the order was cancelled, and tenders were called. KMF did not supply ghee as the company could not match the lowest quoted price.

Hyderabad: The Tirupati police had registered a case against Tamil Nadu-based AR Dairy Pvt. Ltd., on the issue of supplying adulterated ghee. TTD on Wednesday formally lodged a complaint at Tirupati East police station alleging that AR Dairy had supplied adulterated ghee with vegetable oils and animal fat.
