House Speaker Mike Johnson is poised to seek Democratic help to pass his government funding plan after a conservative rebellion derailed his initial measure.

House Speaker Mike Johnson called his funding deal with congressional Democrats “the last available play” before the Sept. 30 deadline to keep the government open.

Johnson is leading the House this week in passing legislation to ensure there's no interruption in federal services, but he's abandoning demands from his own hard-right Republican colleagues and relying on Democratic votes.

The Eagles shut down the Saints offense, one of the NFL’s best over the first two weeks of the season, on Sunday in New Orleans. After a disappointing final drive against Atlanta, the defense responded by bringing consistent pressure and limiting New Orleans playmakers Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave.
